Law

Law is a system of rules which are enforced through social institutions to govern behaviour. A lawyer is generally a person learned in the law as an attorney, counsel, solicitor, jurist, notary, barrister, or advocate. As a person who practices law. Law sees applications in both litigation law (court), and transactional law (business and legal advice).

Working as a lawyer involves the practical application of abstract legal theories and knowledge to solve specific individualized problems, or to advance the interests of those who retain lawyers to perform legal services. Law firms with practice areas spanning mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and commercial litigation may need to address issues related to logistics, transportation, and supply chain management.

SCMO advisors are experts and professionals in their specific fields and all have a deep practical knowledge of their subject matter. As such, we assist law firms with the operational understanding of specific litigation cases, as well as expert witness when necessary in litigation law. We also help law firms, and their clients, in various areas of investment, mergers and acquisitions, industry understanding, and operational due diligence, when involved with transactional law. The following case study demonstrates how SCMO approach has been successfully applied to client issues.

We were called upon as a subject matter expert by a law firm, representing a client in a US$ 50 million litigation case. A service contract between a freight forwarder and a retailer had not been honored fully by either side and the line was not clear cut. Our technical insights, sometimes in contradiction with that of the other party’s expert, helped clarify the case and led it to a favorable conclusion.
